Frequently asked questions

  • Can I see a Stanhope in-person before I order?
Yes. Remember’s jewellery is on display in 20 funeral homes in the East of England. You can find a list of the funeral homes here.
  • All the examples on your website are colour photos. Do you accept black and white photos?
Yes, we accept both black and white and colour photos. However, we recommend that black and white photos are colourised, as this produces a sharper result. This is something we can do for you, free of charge.
  • Can I order a Stanhope pendant without a chain?
Yes, we offer a discount for orders that don’t require a chain. Because each chain is different, click here to contact us and receive a discount code for the specific product(s) you’re interested in.
  • I live outside the UK. Can I place an order?
Currently Remember only accepts orders from customers in the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. If you live in another country and are interested in buying one of our products, please click here and contact us. We may be able to find a way to get them to you.
  • How long does it take to make an order?
It takes about four weeks. This is because all Remember Stanhopes are hand finished in our Cambridge workshop. Click here to read about the making process, and here to read about our delivery timeline.
  • I wear glasses. Should I remove them to see the hidden photo?
It depends. Some people find they can see the photo clearly with their glasses on, while others need to remove them.
  • I’m having trouble seeing my hidden photo. Can you help?
There are three methods you can use to view the hidden photo - and each has a particular technique. You can read (and watch short videos) about them here. If you need more information, please contact us at hello@remember.co.uk
  • My eyesight isn’t great. Will I be able to see the hidden photo?
Yes, almost certainly. This is because the Stanhope lens provides its own focus, meaning that the quality of your own vision is less important. If you are moderately nearsighted or farsighted, you should be able to see the hidden photo without any issues. You should only struggle to see the photo if your vision is severely impaired.
  • How should I store my Stanhope necklace?
Store it somewhere dark and dry when you’re not wearing it. This will protect it from UV light and from excessive humidity - both of which can damage the miniature photo.
  • How should I clean my Stanhope necklace?
We recommend using the polishing cloth that we provide. You can use it to gently clean both sides of the Stanhope lens, removing the dirt and grease that will naturally accumulate.
  • Are Stanhopes waterproof?
No. We recommend taking off your Stanhope jewellery before showering, bathing or swimming. This is to protect the miniature photo, which can be damaged by prolonged or repeated exposure to water.
  • I’d like to use your warranty to get my jewellery repaired. How can I do this?
Send a photo and a description of the fault to hello@remember.co.uk, along with proof of purchase (the order number at the top of your order confirmation email and the email address used to place the order). We’ll assess the issue and get back to you within 1 week. If it’s determined that the issue is covered by the warranty, the item will be repaired or re-made, free of charge.
  • Can I change or cancel my order?
No, you can't. (Except if there are problems with delivery.) This is because all our products are custom-made: we can't sell a Stanhope with your chosen image inside to someone else instead.
  • Can I return my order?
Because all our products are custom-made, we can only offer returns in two scenarios: 1. You've received the wrong product 2. The product you've received is faulty If you've been affected by either of these problems, please send a picture of the product and a description of the issue to hello@remember.co.uk. We'll assess the issue and will get back to you within 72 hours.
  • I’d like my photo to stay private. What happens to it after you make the Stanhope?
Remember’s policy is to keep your photo in our system for 12 months. This allows us to quickly make additional Stanhopes in the rare case that there’s an issue with the original. After 12 months, the photo is deleted. If you’re worried about the privacy of your photo, we’re happy to treat it with particular care - for example, by deleting it from our system as soon as we’ve made the Stanhope. If this is something you’re interested in, please contact us at hello@remember.co.uk
