To view with the
naked eye

1. Hold your Stanhope up to bright, natural light, with the rounded end towards you.

2. Bring it very close to your dominant eye, keeping your other eye shut.

3. Adjust your focus by shifting the Stanhope around.

For best results

• Hold the Stanhope with your right hand (the image will be upside down if you use your left).

• Try to allow as much light into the Stanhope as
possible. Avoid covering the flat end with your fingers.

• Avoid harsh, direct sunlight, which may make your hidden image look patchy.

• Never look directly at the sun.

• If you wear glasses, it may help if you remove them.
